Why listings need rebuilding
Sources drift apart. A unit number here, old hours there, the trading name on one map and the legal name on another. Apple and Microsoft show listings for businesses that have never touched them. Month one puts the same name, address, phone, hours, categories, photos and buttons on all three maps, starting from a baseline we write down on day one.
Google handled 87.6% of searches in Australia in August 2026, so it comes first for every business. Apple matters for any business whose customers find it on a phone, which is most of them: 65.2% of mobile web browsing in Australia comes from iPhones. Bing matters when your customers work at a desk, or when you want Copilot to name you. Take any combination.
What moves the ranking, and what does not
Posts expire after seven days, and there is little public evidence that posting, or the location data attached to a photo, moves your map ranking on its own. We do them because they fill out a profile a customer is reading before they ring, and because an obviously active profile beats one last touched two years ago.
What moves the ranking is the plain half: correct details everywhere the maps look, the right categories, proximity, and reviews coming in steadily with replies underneath them. That is where months two and three go: requests going out systematically after each job, every review answered within two business days with the service and the suburb named in the reply, and your details checked across the directories Google reads, because anyone can suggest an edit to your profile, including a competitor.
Why it stops at three months
Most of the value is in month one. Once the listings are rebuilt and the review habit is yours, the monthly work drops away, so this is a program and not a retainer. At the end of month three you get a written report against the day one baseline and a recommendation on whether anything further is worth paying for. No rollover, no exit fee. Every login is yours.
How it is measured
Up to three agreed searches are tracked on a five by five grid, 25 points spread across the area you serve, rechecked every week. A single ranking number is misleading: you can be first outside your door and missing two suburbs away. The report shows your map position at each point from day one to month three, alongside the profile figures Google gives us. Apple reports how often you were found and what was tapped. Bing and Copilot are checked by hand each month. The grid tracks Google only; no tool we trust tracks Apple or Bing positions the same way.
Questions we get asked
Which map matters most?
Google, for every business. Add Apple when your customers find you on a phone, which is most of them. Add Bing when your customers work at a desk or you want Copilot to name you.
Do posts move rankings?
There is no solid public evidence that they do. We include them because an active profile reads better to the customer who is deciding whether to ring, not because they are the point.
What do you need from me?
Manager access to the profile or the email it was set up under, your correct name, address and hours, ten good photos of real work, and the questions you get asked on the phone. New Apple or Bing listings are verified by a call, a code or a postcard, so someone needs to answer it.
How fast is the rebuild?
Inside two weeks of getting access. A brand new listing can take a few days longer while its verification arrives.
What happens after month three?
Nothing. No retainer, no rollover, no exit fee. You get the written report and every login, and the review habit keeps running because it is yours.
